Call me lazy or call me ignorant, I was not into seasonal decor. I guess it was because I hadn’t discovered the joy behind it. After starting this blog and my Instagram account, I found a lot of great ideas that inspire. So, I decided to try my hand at an easy-peasy DIY fall centerpiece. This helped me dip my feet into the pool of seasonal decor.

The one I decided to create comes with a twist though 🙂 It doesn’t have the traditional fall colors. It’s white and pink!

I am highly inspired by the painted pumpkins that Ashley created. She wholeheartedly embraces rainbow colors and incorporates into all of her designs. So, I too decided to embrace pink and set out to create my pink and white fall centerpiece.

Here are the supplies you need to create this fall center piece:

  1. Foam pumpkins
  2. Spray paint – I used white and pink
  3. A round floral foam base
  4. A tall glass vase – I got mine from Dollar Tree
  5. Glue
  6. Toothpick
  7. Faux flowers – I got these from Dollar Tree too
  8. Wirecutter
  9. Candle

Once you have gathered the supplies, creating the center piece is very easy. Let me share the exact steps I took:

STEP 1: PAINT THE PUMPKINS

The first thing you need to do, is paint the pumpkins in a color of your choice. If you like to use them as is, you can skip this step.

Since I decided on white and pink to be my colors, I used this white and this pink spray paint. I had these on hand, so I used them. You can use any paint of your choice.

I stuck them on a thin wood skewer to make painting a breeze. Once I finished a coat of paint, I stuck the pumpkin skewers on the lid of a shoe box to let them dry.

It took 2 coats of paint to get the coverage I wanted. It may differ for you based on the kind of pumpkin you are using and the paint. Once the paint has dried completely, remove the pumpkins from the skewer and keep them aside.

Onto the next step.

STEP 2: GLUE THE VASE TO THE FOAM BASE

The next step is to glue the glass vase to the center of the foam base. I got my tall glass vase from Dollar Tree, but you can use any vase you like.

I had only hot glue at home and that’s what I used. I quickly realized that hot glue may not be the best option for a permanent bond. My vase did not stay stuck when I used hot glue.

For a more permanent solution, I’d probably go with a stronger craft glue like this one.

STEP 3: STICK THE PUMPKINS TO THE BASE

Once you have the vase glued to the center of the foam base, you can move on to adding the pumpkins. I have used foam pumpkins in two sizes for this project. You can use what you like.

In my fall centerpiece, I decided to add 4 pumpkins, 2 white, and 2 pinks. This is based on the size of the foam base and the pumpkins I was working with. If you wish to add more, you can very well do so.

To add the pumpkins to the base, I used toothpick, and it worked like a charm. I had 2 big pumpkins and 2 small ones. I pushed the larger pumpkins all the way down. Then I stuck the smaller ones at the top of the toothpick, so that they are seen.

That’s all there is to this step.

STEP 4: ADD FLOWERS and LEAVES

This is the fun step! I bought 3-4 stems of white and pink faux peonies and each stem had 5 flowers in it. You can choose any kind of flowers you like.

I used a wire cutter to cut the flowers and leaves to a length where I could easily stick them on the foam base.

I started by sticking white flowers around the pink pumpkins and pink flowers around the white pumpkins. This created a bit of contrast and made the pumpkins more visible.

After that, you just need to fill in the gaps. Make sure to stick some flowers all around the base of the foam so that it’s not seen.

Once this is done, you can add some leaves or other fall foliage. I used the leaves that came with the flower stems and stuck them here and there. This added a nice break to the sea of pink and white.

Easy, isn’t it?

STEP 5: PLACE THE CANDLE, LIGHT IT AND ENJOY YOUR FALL CENTERPIECE!

By now the fall centerpiece is ready. When you want to use it, place a candle in the vase, and light it. Place the centerpiece wherever you wish to add unconventional, yet beautiful fall decor.
